June 11 - 20 - Air Force Academy

We're here for 10 days while our granddaughter, Anna, attends volleyball camp. Peregrine Pines is a very nice FamCamp except for the trains that have to sound their "chimes" all through the day and night. Being on the academy grounds has all the benefits of any military installation and then some.

We found the Farrish Campgrounds high above the academy. What a quite and peaceful place with three different lakes to fish and spectacular views. It's a 7.5 mile hike from the academy or a 45 mile drive. Seeing as how we are still working up to long hikes, we chose the drive. Sure glad we did too. The scenery was wonderful.

We also had the pleasure of helping our friends Jim & Donna Rowland celebrate Donna's birthday. It's always neat to be with friends at special moments. Jim is a long time friend & architect who helped design the remolding of our former home in Albuquerque. He's just finished a large military project in Colorado Springs. It's always fun seeing them both. We had a evening of good food and lots of laughs.

We were also able to help our full timing RV friends ,Alan & Ann Morrison, celebrate Ann's retirement. They are currently living in their RV and getting ready to "hit the road" in mid July. The South African wine and local micro brewery beer were great but the chicken was the best. I'm sure that our paths will cross again during our travels across the US. We look forward to sharing our travels and more good wine & food.
